Innovation Forum

Next September 17, 2009 will be held on 9th Innovation Forum which will be subject about Immersive spaces centered on the virtual world Second Life, where we will explore the different possibilities and opportunities offered by this virtual environment for learning and how to build a virtual community. You must be registered (for free) from the following form.

• Paul Fleming (http://twitter.com/pwfleming), founder of Barcelona Virtual and president of the consulting company Fleming, Torra & Associates.
• Begoña Gros,Vice president of Innovation at the UOC and director of the eLearn Center at the UOC.
• David Maniega (http://twitter.com/dmaniega), director of the Open Innovation Office at the UOC.
• Vicent Partal (http://blocs.mesvilaweb.cat/vicent), director of VilaWeb, vice president of the European Journalism Center and presenter of the L’Internauta in Catalunya Ràdio.

The forum won’t be face to face, but drawing on the same theme, will be held live in Second Life on a small island created by the Barcelona Virtual company, experts in the development of 3D environments in Second Life for the revitalization of virtual communities.

This format allows us to innovate in the way of making this forum, because the audience may participate in the event virtually through their avatars from anywhere in the 3D world in the island within Second Life, meaning in turn is much better posed the possibility of learning in an immersive 3D environment.

To ensure access to this forum to users who do not yet have their avatar in Second Life, Barcelona has created a virtual environment with a guided tour in order to acquire the knowledge needed to manage one’s own personal avatar. In this way, new users with less knowledge can learn easily and quickly how to move into Second Life, how to customize their avatar and what actions they can perform an excellent stepping stone to interact appropriately in the forum for innovation as outside afterwards.
